Government Issues Warning for these Android Smartphone and Tablet Users – Times of India

Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-in) Under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology Government of India has issued an important warning with a severity rating set to ‘high’ for android users.
According to the report, several Security Flaws Have been found within the multiple versions of the android operating system. The government body has warned users about the existing vulnerability that have been reported.
What the government has said
As per the report, multiple vulnerabilites have been reported in Android which could be exploited by an attacker to obtain sensitive informationGain Elevated Privileges, Execute Arbitrary Code or Cause Denial of Service Conditions on the Targeted System.
The vulnerabilites exist in Android due to flaws in framework, system, amlogic, arm components, medieletk components, Qualcomm Components & Qualcomm Components & Qualcomm Closed-Sourse Components.
Also, successful exploitation of these vulnerabilityes can allow an attacker to obtain sensitive information and Gain privateges and also also run arbitrary code or Eveen Cause deenial of Service System.
Affected android versions
The vulnerabilites have been found within multiple versions of the Android Including Android 11, Android 12, Android 12L, Android 13 Android 13 Android 14 Operating Systems. Also, this affects bot Android-Powered Smartphones and Tablets.
What’s the solution
The government body has advised users to apply the latest Security Patch available for their devices.
To check for the update, follow these steps:

  • Open settings on your smartphone or tablet
  • Tap on software updates
  • Then, tap on check for updates button.
  • Hit Install, If there’s an update available.
  • Wait for it to download and install.
  • Once done, restart the phone.
