Dengue case in Delhi decreased compared to last year, Malaria-Chikangunya cases increased

There were 412 dengue cases in Delhi till 23 August this year, which are less than 425 cases recorded till the same period last year, compared to less than half of the 942 cases registered during the same period in 2023. At the same time, no one has been reported to have died due to dengue so far this year. This information was received from official data. However, there was an increase in cases of malaria and chikungunya.

According to the data, 9,266 dengue cases were registered during 2023 in Delhi and 6,391 in 2024, while this year the figure is very low so far this year. Dengue deaths are also under control.

191 malaria cases were registered in Delhi till 23 August this year, while in 2024, 181 cases were registered during the same period and 126 in 2023. According to weekly data, 26 new malaria cases have been reported this week, of which Najafgarh, South and West Zones were the most affected. Last year, 792 malaria cases were registered in Delhi.

Chikungunya cases also increased

According to the data, Chikungunya cases have also increased, till August 23, 32 infection cases have been reported, while in 2024 there were 17 cases in 28 and 2023 during the same period. The highest number of cases were registered in South and Shahdara Zone this week.

How many cases of Chikungunya last year?

Last year, there were 267 cases of Chikungunya, which were the highest in recent years. According to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, it took precautionary measures and inspected 2.67 crore houses under the anti -mosquito campaign between January 1 and August 23, compared to 2.08 crore last year.
