Dehradun’s Wellham Girls’ School has opened a new school museum to mark its history and legacy. The museum has been set up within nasreen, the former nizam’s estate on which the school was founded in 1957.

Wellham girls ‘school was established ten years after independence by Hersilia Susie Oliphant and Grace Mary Linnell, as a Counterpart to Wellham Boys’ School. At a time when options for girls in Residential Schools Were Limited, The Founders Created A Space that Helped Promote Women’s Education in postcolonial India. Over the Years, students of welham have contributed to various national causes, including during the indo-china war. The inauguration of the museum was attended by board members, dignitaries, and alumnae. Two distinguished alumnae, Neelam Khanna (Batch of 1965) and Premila Nazir (Batch of 1957), Were Present as Chief Guest and Guest of Honor. Nazir was the first student to be officially registered at the school. Both spoke about their memory of the institution and its lasting influence.
