Video of forced slogans and assault from Muslim youth in Pauri Garhwal viral, three accused arrested

A case of assault and attempt to raise religious slogans with Rizwan Ahmed has come to light on August 15 in Srinagar in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. The incident took place at around 4 pm at Rakesh Lal’s tea shop, when three drunk youths Mukesh Bhatt (Shyampur, Rishikesh), Manish Bisht (Farsu Dungaripanth, Srinagar), and Naveen Bhandari (Kotdhar, Chinyalisaur, Uttarkashi) pressured Rizwan to raise slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ from Rizwan.

On Rizwan’s refusal, the accused caught his beard, abused, and started fighting. The video of this incident went viral on social media, after which the police took quick action and arrested the three accused.

Rizwan hails from Saharanpur

According to the information, Rizwan is a resident of Chhutmalpur village in Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh and drives a blue car in the railway. He told that he stopped drinking tea on Badrinath Dhara Devi Marg. Then the accused not only attacked him, but also insulted him by pulling his beard and made a video. Rizwan escaped from the back of the shop and saved his life.

He also claimed that on the same day another person from Saharanpur was also threatened and tried to raise slogans.

Clear threats in viral video

In the viral video, it is clearly heard that one of the accused says “You will have to say Jai Shri Ram,” threatens, “If the slogan is not raised, we will make Halal.

Srinagar Police, while taking immediate action, filed a case under Section 115 (2), 196, 299 (a), 351 (2), and 352 of the Indian Justice Code (BNSS) in Kotwali Srinagar. The police team formed under the leadership of jurisdictional Anuj Kumar arrested the three accused and produced them in the court, from where they were sent to jail.

Rizwan unhappy with police action

Expressing dissatisfaction over the police action, Rizwan said that the accused should have imposed more strict sections, as they are afraid to return to their work in future. SP MLA Omar Ali Khan met Rizwan and demanded strict action from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. This incident has raised questions on social harmony, and the police have appealed to the people not to pay attention to rumors.
