Lokniti-Sanjay Kumar, director of CSDS, has got interim relief from the Supreme Court. The court has stayed the action in the cases filed in the case of tweeting the wrong data related to the voter list. The 2 FIRs in which Sanjay Kumar have been relieved were recorded in Nashik and Nagpur in Maharashtra. A bench headed by Chief Justice BR Gawai has issued notice to the Maharashtra government and the complainants.
An FIR has been lodged against election analyst Sanjay Kumar at Ramtek police station in Nagpur for spreading misinformation and violation of election rules. Sections of BNS 175, 353 (1) (B), 212 and 340 (1) (2) are imposed against him in the FIR. Apart from this, a case has been registered against him for making false allegations of rigging of votes against him at Sarkarwada police station in Nashik.

Sanjay Kumar, while reviewing the voter list of Lok Sabha elections held in 2024 and Maharashtra Assembly elections, claimed a huge change in the number of voters. He had said that the number of voters in Ramtek assembly constituency decreased by 38.45%. Similarly, he had also spoken about the lack of 36.82% voters in Devalali region. However, later Sanjay Kumar removed his tweets made about this. He had clarified by apologizing that this data was wrongly read by his team. He had no intention of deliberately spreading wrong information.

This time there was a mistake from his team. Due to this, he was accused of spreading wrong information about the data of voters.
