Mumbai is witnessing a worrying resurgeence of malaria cases, with the brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Reporting 824 More More Cases of the Vector-Borne Disease Between January and Augase Between January and AUNGEST 2025 Compared to the number of Cases reported during the same period last year.
While 4,021 Cases of Malaria was reported during these months in 2024, the same period this year has seen 4,825 cases. The city also witnessed a risk in chikungunya cases in the same period. While 210 Cases Were Reported during the said months in 2024, 328 cases were recorded in 2025.
Under Bmc`S Zero Mosquito Breeding Campaign, Targeted Initiatives Were Implemented to Strengthen Community and Healthcare Engagement. Special Sensitiation Sessions WIELD with 1,015 Housing Sociates to Raise Awareness About Preventing Mosquito Breeding. Focused Drives Were Conducted In 18 Hospitals to ENSUREDE to Anti-Vector Control Measures. Additionally, 1,321 private practitioners were sensitized to enhance timely reporting, diagnosis, and management of vector-borne diseases.
