Kolkata: The Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) has taken up a drive to demolish Ilelegal makeshift structures and clear unauthorized encroesed encroachments from the stretches below sets and Flyovers across the city. The Civic Body will also also fence off the cleared stretches to prevent encroachers from returning.Work will be done below all bridges maintained by kmda as per the state govt decision. Some of these bridges, under which the unauthorized makeshift structures are being demolished, are slip bridge connecting vip road with sal sal lake, baghajatin rob, bridge flyov Chetla Lock Gate Bridge, Durgapur Bridge in New Alipore, ChitPore Bridge, Bagmari Bridge, and Kamalgazi Flyover. Encroachments have alredy been cleared on Stretches beLow karunamoye Bridge, Maa Saradamoye Bridge (Zerat Bridge) in Alipore, Chingrighata Flyover, and AMAMEDKAR BRIDKAR BRIDKAR BRIDKAR BRIDKAR A kmda official said fencing on these spots is underway.The steel barricades that will be put up beLow ambedkar bridge and chingrighata flyover will also help to stop pedestrians from crossing the Median Divider to Minimise and Prevent Accidents. The decision to remove such encroachments was taken after a fire broke out in a slum under durgapur bridge in new alipore.
