Android update: If you are bothering the new interface of Google phone app, then the good news is that you can still return to the old layout. But remember, this method is not permanent. Google can force the new design through updates coming and do not work for a long time.

What changed in the new design?

Google has made many changes in the layout of the phone app. A new Home tab has been made by mixing Favourites and Recents tabs. The keypad has been sent to a separate section and its buttons have already become large and round shaped. The method of receiving the call has also changed, now it will have to be lifted from the horizontal swipe.

Even during the call, the buttons are now seen in the rounded pill shape and a large red End Call button is given in the lower part of the screen. At first glance, these changes may look modest but for many users this experience has become uncomfortable. Since updates on Google Play Store are automatic, most people did not even get a glimpse of it.

How to bring back old layout

The easiest way to get an old interface is to uninstall the app with updates. This will not delete the app because it is the system app but it will return to the initial version with your phone. For this, open Google Play Store, search phone by Google, tap on the app and choose Uninstall and then restart the phone. After this you will get the old design back.

It is important to stop auto-updates

The old layout will remain until the app is updated again. Therefore, the option of enable auto-update for the app will have to be closed. For this, open the app in the Play Store, tap on the menu with three dots on the top right and disable the auto-update. However, keep in mind that by doing this you will not get the necessary safety updates and bug fixes immediately, so from time to time you have to check the update manually.

If you use OnePlus, Oppo or Realme phones, then you can download the Odierer app from the Play Store. This is Oppo’s official dialer app and gives the same experience as old Google phone app. Even though this method works for now, but it is not guaranteed to last long. Future system updates or Google’s forcibly updates can remove old design forever. That is, at the moment it is just a temporary relief, not a permanent solution.
