Mumbai: Part of building stairs collapsed, efforts continue to save trapped people

A part of the ladder of the two -storey building collapsed in South Mumbai on Sunday (August 17) evening, causing some people to be trapped on the upper floor. The officers provided this information. A municipal corporation official said that the incident took place at 7:43 pm in a building located in Prabhu Gali in Chirabazar near Marine Lines station.

He said that the team of fire department, police, 108 ambulance service and ward staff reached the spot and started rescue operations. The officer further said, “According to preliminary information received from the caller, some people are stuck on the second floor. Efforts are on to bring them down safely. Details about casualties or injured could not be available immediately. ”For the last few days, Mumbai has been receiving heavy rains.

2 people died in landslide after rain in Vikhroli

On August 16 in Vikhroli, Mumbai, two people lost their lives and many others were injured due to landslide. Local officials said that the incident took place in Varsha Nagar of Vastra Park, at around 2.39 minutes late in the night. A BMC official said that soil and stone fell on a hut from a nearby hill, injuring four people from the same family.

He said that the injured were taken to Rajwadi Hospital run by the local body, where doctors declared two of them dead. The official said that the emergency redemption teams, including the fire department, local police and metropolitan municipality employees, immediately reached the spot.

Dead identified in Landslide

He said that the deceased have been identified as Shalu Mishra (19) and Suresh Mishra (50). At the same time, the injured include Aarti Mishra (45) and Rituraj Mishra (20), whose condition is said to be stable.
